Early Life

Childhood and Family

Celine Dion was born on March 30, 1968, into a large family as the youngest of fourteen children. Growing up in a musical household, she was surrounded by music from a very young age. Her parents owned a small piano bar where she often performed, which helped her develop confidence and stage presence early on. Her talent was quickly recognized by her family, and they supported her passion for singing. By the time she was a child, it was already clear that she had a unique and powerful voice.

At the age of twelve, Celine recorded her first song with the help of her mother and brother. This recording was sent to music manager René Angélil, who was so impressed that he decided to mortgage his home to finance her first album. This marked the beginning of her professional career. With his guidance, she became a successful French-language artist in Canada before eventually transitioning into the international music scene.
